Day 38 - Singapore (Chinatown, Little India, Botanic Gardens)

I debated for a long time if we would pay for one of the hop-on-hop-off tour buses, but we just decided to get a city map and take the rail lines to get everywhere.  We walked around Chinatown, ate some great Indian food in Little India and ended the daylight hours at the beautiful, rain forest-like botanic gardens.  Then we went back to the marina bay area and ate at Bazin which had wonderful food and fancy cocktails with crazy ice and a fantastic view of the skyline and bay (which had no water or light or music show that weekend in honor of an ex-prime minister that had recently passed away.  Oh and it was also earth day, so the gardens by the bay didn't have a light show either....WRONG weekend to go to Singapore....)

Awesome bonsai trees at the botanic gardens:

Apparently this is the country's national flower/plant:

 Cool root system:
We were just 10 minutes too late to enter the orchid garden.  We really wanted to go in and take some nice photos for Chris' dad Harold, but alas, he will have to do with the ones just outside the gate...

The gardens were very beautiful and there were many people out enjoying them.  Though compared to the Philippines, Singapore, KL, and Thailand were WAY more humid and HOTTER.  It was a burden to just walk sometimes, but explore we must, so we did.
 Fun sculptures were everywhere:
Cool drinks and great eats on the waterfront at Bazin:
Now off to a different (much cheaper) hotel for the night to be rested for tomorrow's adventure in Kuala Lumpur!
